For some reason the Lowrance Hook 7 on jon boat runs great under way, but looses the side/depth scan when stopped (under trolling motor). The GPS is still good when stopped.
Suggestions?
Have unplugged and re plugged cables…X times.

How level is the boat when are using the trolling motor? Are you in a different place in the boat when you lose bottom? Sometimes those transducers are angle sensitive. Or is it an electrical noise interference type thing do you think?

…well, some fishing too!
I’ve had lots of issues with that model Lowrance. I’m currently using the third one in less than two years. All I can suggest is a ‘soft’ re-start or if that doesn’t work a ‘hard’ re-start. The instructions for these are on the Lowrance web page. Or, contact company support. THey have been very helpful in sorting out the problems that I was having.
Let us assume I get rid of Lowrance…who makes a reliable down/side scan unit?
Simrad, Lowrance, Garmin… With Lowrance, the hook units are ok but they are low tier in the grand scheme of things. Especially if it’s several years old. Garmin is easiest as far as user friendly, and Simrad typically has all the bells and whistles. Go up to West Marine and push some buttons until you find one you like:slightly_smiling_face:

i had the exact same problem. mine was with a minn kota PD V2 with autopilot and copilot. I believe the trolling motor and fish finder were on the same frequencies. Never could figure out a solution. Bought a Garmin and works fine.
