I was wondering if anyone else had a Lowrance HDS unit and what settings they had it set to to be able to see baitfish & other fish? What works best t see good fish arches. Sensitivity, palette, ping speed, surface clarity, noise rejection, frequency, etc.
Thanks for the help.
Hey Jon, I will check mine and try to report back to as to the settings I run. I feel like mine is pretty good but then again it is really what I am used to. I want to say I took advice off of a YouTube vid on good starting points of the settings. Make sure your unit knows which transducer you are running too. Maybe check out a few of those vids and go from there. Also, do your own experiments like drive over where you know it’s a sandy bottom, where you know it’s a muddy bottom, rocky, etc… then you can know what to look for in new areas…hope this helps!

Don’t know about a lowrance but my h-bird shows bait and fish better
when set at mid range sensitivity and a chart speed of approx. same
as boat!
Sens. set to high and you’ll see microscopic crap in water column, and slow chart stays on objects too long making them appear different…

Where are you fishing?
Good Question JonMusc08.
I have the same. I been struggling trying to get the right setup. I be on lake catching fish but its not telling well showing me the fish. Then need to practice more with the side imaging and wave points, ect…
I have good luck with my Lowrance set on shallow/freshwater, 200 Khz freq. and normal or slow ping speed. I leave everything else off. I can usually see baitfish with those settings on the lake, and the striper show as boomerangs.

I only fish inshore on the rivers and out near Folly. Im in no more than 40’ of water max. The you tube videos were pretty helpful. There are some good videos and a lot of worthless ones; you just have to go through them. I’ll have to go sit out on the water and play around with it some more with the info i found.

I should have warned you. Seems like your off to a good start though. You’ll have it figured in no time now!
