Lowrance sonar issue

I’ve got a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI that is about 2 1/2 yrs. old. The last few times I’ve been out (Lake Murray), the sonar doesn’t show depth for a few minutes, then all of a sudden starts working. Once working, it works fine for the rest of the trip. It’s happened 4 out of the last 5 times. I’ve checked connections, unplugged & plugged back in, but no change. It’s like it has a mind of it’s own. Any ideas???

Mine did something similar to that but it would lose sonar then come back the lose it again a few times over and over but I never lost temp readings. HDS5 Gen2, 4 years old. I called Lowrance and they walked me through a ‘soft reset’ that didn’t clear any of my chart lines or waypoint marks but did resolve the sonar issue. I did have to go back into the unit and tell the head unit which transducer I’m running again afterwards. There have been several updates and downloading and installing those may help as well.

also check the angle of your transducer. I had a humminbird that would do something similar to that and it turned out that my transducer had pivoted up some how.

I had the same issue with my Lowrance HDS 7 Touch. It did it constantly, then they came up with a software update for it. Just go to their web site, load it to an SD card, unzip with with your computer and stick it in. The latest software is awesome.

I had a simular problem but the transducer had broken off and flipped in the boat!

I installed the update last week & went out Sunday. Everything worked as it should. Thanks for the info MuddyWaterFisher!
