I took my son to Panama for his 13th. birthday last week. No huge fish but he did get to check wahoo, yellowfin and rooster fish off his list. Not much video or pics due to a little rain.
Thanks for the recommendation on the Paraflex, love it.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Congrats on a cool trip, and nice pics/video. What’s the boy gettin’ for his 16th birthday, a 36’ Contender?..
“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”
No doubt a nice gesture that will take him years to appreciate. Yet memories that will last a lifetime for both of us. I’m sure it won’t be cool to hang out with Dad forever…unless I keep taking him on vacation, of course.
A true sportsman, only taking what you can eat and I can imagine it can be hard since there are no limits in Panama. Either way I am torn between a Panama yellowin tuna trip or a San Diego long range tuna boat, just need a pay raise!

It is not too expensive, although everything is relative. I used American Express points for my flight and my share would have been $1500 all in. I am putting a few boats together for a February trip. We will likely do a day fishing Peacock bass then 3 or 4 for tuna and whatnot. I look to have it around $2500 plus airfare which is usually about $500.
Five days of fishing, all food and drinks, transfers and lodging for $500-600 a day is not bad.
Very nice Courtland, looks like you’re raising a fine young man. He will cherishish the trip more than you believe. We are very interested in hear some details about the trip in Feb. It’s not the best time for the rainbow bass, but should be really good offshore. What I need to know is how to convince the wife and daughter that they do not want to come.
