Salmonale, next time we’ll have 16oz Millers on the boat & more lively bait with the new aerator! Think we are figuring this whole striper thing out! Maybe we should design a16oz Miller blue striper lure!

If they are schooling always throw a zara spook. The original with the red head and silver body is the best!!

All this schooling talk got me pumped, so I went and looked up when it was last year that a few of us put in kayaks one weekday am at the dam to hunt some schooling fish. They schooled pretty good that am, but mostly out in the big water out of our range. Weston picked up the only fish throwing a double fluke rig.

I do remember I picked that morning to go because the morning before they were right off the rocks and I picked up a few casting from the bank. This was back on Sept 18/19.

Shouldn’t be long!!

This heat wave isn’t going to help. I know I have seen them schooling in August. They just don’t stay up as long as they do mid September.

Early in the year I throw a big topwater plug. Not sure what it is called, but Tim gave it to me about 2 years ago. When they are targeting the small bait I like to use a rattlin trap. It’s a lot of fun watching them hit topwater, but I have the most success just pulling boards and freelines in the area they are schooling.

Probably was a Storm Chug Bug. That’s what I still like to throw from the bank. You can cast those things a mile.
