does anyone know of a reputable machine shop in the charleston - beaufort area? i blew a head gasket on the truck, so i want to have the head decked while it’s off.

Maybe a few years ago not now. Just got back a Cummins block, took 6 weeks. Took a 22RE and they bored 3 of four holes, for some reason one piston wouldn’t fit in the hole. [:0] Oh yea, took in a sb 400 they supposedly polish crank which was not done and while polishing myself found crank stress cracked through center journal… junk. But they said it was a o.k. Had them install cam bearings All were deeply scratched. Block was supose to be clean and ready for assembly. Oil galleys were absolutely trashed. If I still had them I’d post pics. There was a time when Simons was decent, even top notch, but not today.
You could try Crosby’s Machine shop off Peniel road just outside of Walterboro. He does good work and is reasonable.843-844-2652. There is also a guy some were between Summerville and M.C. off 17a that I heard does good work. I’ll find a contact for you.
good lord man! i will deliver the head off my cummins clean and ready, just need it to be checked and decked. should take no more than 3 hours of work, so i am going to schedule an appointment in december with a shop so they can do same day. only have 3 days to tear down, change turbo, deck head, stud block, and reassemble… then road trip.
if anybody wants a piece of the action… i will buy the beer haha
