Mahi in December- Sat, 12/13 out of Charleston

Couldn’t wait til spring to take the new to me rig out. Left Remley’s at 545 Saturday morning and headed out for the ledge. Couldn’t have been more impressed with the ride. Cruising at 40mph makes short work of the ride to the ledge. Cold but great seas out. Ended up with 5 mahi (much to our suprise), lost what we assumed to be a big hoo that almost spooled the 50 bent butt, a handful of vermillion, 1 triggerfish that was given back to the sea, 6 bonitas, a couple AJ’s. Fished in 160-225 feet all day. Bumpy ride in first 10-15 miles then it layed down. Great day on the water and hope we can get another calm winter day to get back out there.

Weird. We were anchored in 100 feet and saw what I could have sworn was a dolphin. Didn’t have a jig or anything to throw at it ready. I just told myself there’s no way it was a dolphin and kept on fishing. Now I’ve got second thoughts.

nice fishing lucky dog- what area of ledge were you fishing?

FishnBarrels- no specific area just headed straight out, 160-180ft
