mahi/wahoo season?

I have been attempting to get a charter offshore for the past several months to target wahoo and mahi. Unfortunately my schedule and the weather have not cooperated at all.
I would like to inquire if the season has past or is there still good fishing to be had.
Also, is it better in the north such as Myrtle Beach or the south towards Hilton Head, or does it matter?

thank you in advance for the ■■■■■■■■.

The dolphin push was a little late this year and should be good until mid July. Wahoo are here year round and the Sailfish bite should be picking up now through September. Check out our site and give me a call if you would like to discuss a charter or fishing in general.

Thanks, Charlie

I am not sure if the dolphin bite ever slows. Its really interesting, in the “ole days” back in the mid 90’s you would go out and catch 15 to 20 yellowfin and a few wahoo and very little mahi on one trip. I never can recall back then just loading up on the mahi.

Its almost like the mahi took the yellowfin’s spot. But I would much rather have the yellowfins back!!!

Maybe I’m doing something wrong but I have always thought the big dolphin bite slows down dramatically around July. Yeah you still catch em but not usually in the big number like you do mid April through June.

Yes, I agree, the dolphin bite slows down in July for sure. Some trips in August the crew will freak over a 15 lb dolphin.
