I start off with about 2’ of 100lb mono and crimp a 125 pound barrel swivel to one end, then i will slide a bead on followed by a snap swivel and then another bead and i will crimp those tightly together, then ill crip an 8/0 to 10/0 circl hook on,then open snap swivel and choose ur weight and close. simple as that!!!here are some pics to show what it will look like.
I make up some similar stuff but here is my super-beefy Carolina rig I use in the Stono inlet when the water is moving fast. 150lb cable, 12/0 hook and ball bearing swivel.
Chunk a half a blue fish on there and wait for the line to start peeling off.
I use a high test Carolina rig. A 3oz weight and a 100lb swivel with 65lb mono leader. About 4foot of leader and 4/0 or 5/0 circle hook. Yall are crazy!

That is just for the inlet. I have had 8oz hooked on a single drop with a 5" mullet not reach bottom when the tide is running in the Stono inlet. I even have some 16’s for the real big baits. I am trying to catch a shark longer than my boat.
They say there are some monsters out there and I just want to catch one.
I hooked into a large spinner a couple of years ago in the Stono out from Kiawah river. Was fishin with a guy in a 14’ john boat. It came out of the water parrallel to the boat abou 100 yrds out and looked to be about 6’long at that distance. Looked around after it broke a 80lb leader and there was no gaff to be found. Asked my buddy what if we had gotten it to the boat and he said beats me. Was ablast while it lasted though.
