man killed?

Saw on the TV news this AM about a boating acedent at Murrey! Hope it was not a member of this site or another fisherman! Any facts will be apreaceted!

That’s terrible. I know that area well as we put in at Hilton and pass those docks a lot. I think it was pretty foggy Sunday morning as I am sure that had something to do with it. I hate that it happened. hopefully it urges us all to be extra careful during low visibility times.

Any of the local news sites have info on his name, but I haven’t seen anywhere with any kind of real details yet on how it happened.

Sounds like he may have hit one of the docks just on the Ballentine side of the old Ken Hyatt house (rip rap pt?).

God bless the “ignore” function.

Must have been a fisherman, prayers go out to his family! Just shows one can’t be to careful around water! Always thinking,it won’t happen to me. Don"t know of the times we have run that lake in the dark and fog.

I ran into a friend yesterday that happened to be hanging out with someone at the time who was a personal friend of the nephew and had been to the hospital to visit. He is really banged up bad, but expected to recover.

She said he says there was no dock involved as reported, but they ran aground. Also, he recalled it happening more like 3am and they were only found at 6am.

I guess you never know how good ones recollection can be after that sort of trauma, but surely it will all come out in the investigation. At least it sounds like he will recover.

It also says a bass boat but with windshield causing the trauma to the deceased it sounds more like the dual console model. I can’t imagine it would be reported as hitting a dock and not have a dock involved. I figured it was the dock that extends off the point heading towards Ballentine from Gilbert past wessinger.

Thought maybe he was heading to Dreher for the blast off

They hit the front left corner of the gazebo on the end of Hyatts point or what ever it’s called. They couldn’t of hit it very hard, just cracked the post an knocked the railing loose.

If it’s a telephone pole driven 10-15’ deep that’s a lot to take down. It would take some force from a 2000lb floating object to break. A sudden stop at just 20mph could easily kill you. Sad sad story!
