Roughly 45 years ago in Florida, Dad, one of my brothers and me were dragging for scallops. Dad saw the blue ball and he thought it was some kind of kids toy. Put his hand overboard to pick it up and before he touched it got stung several times on his arm. Brother drove us back to the pier, by then Dad was throwing up, hard to breath, and hurting all over. Nurse Mom met us with a bottle of vinegar and got him to the Hospital, by then he was feeling a lot better. I believe they rubbed his arm in ammonia. Vinegar and Ammonia do about the same thing for relieving the affected area.

Nasty things with a nasty sting. Dads arm looked like someone had beat it with a bull whip.

“Why Bruce?”

About 50 years ago when I was in about a first grades, one of thost things wrapped around my foot.It hurt like hell and looked like I had been branded with a hot iron. The scars were there until I was about 40.
