Mantis Shrimp

Been going out shrimping with a guy I met on here. Neither one of us are seasoned veterans and are still trying to find our own honey hole but this season is looking as bad as the last. First trip out we were skunked. Second trip out was last night and we caught 2 large shrimp on separate casts right about dead low tide. Not sure when the Mantis Shrimp came aboard but it was the first time I had ever seen or heard of one. Anyone know if the presence of mantis shrimp will push other shrimp out of the area due to their aggressive nature? Harbor was like glass last night so conditions were great, just can’t find where they’re hiding.

Toss him in the cooler and eat’em, good stuff.

I caught one about a foot long over near Pitt Street in Mt. Pleasant once, stuck in a tide pool (which is a bit odd). Fierce animal.
