Marathon 2018

I have a bag of Yellowtail Up and a bag of Snapper Up
I’d be willing to sell
I had extra when we went in mid June

Great stuff worked like advertised for us
And is great to mix with sand for sand balls to bring up the fish

Link in case you are not familiar with it https://youtu.be/HhZFHnNKRV8

Price to CF members $15/bag

Thanks
John

I’ve never used both of those items, usually just make my own sand balls. Chum, sand, and add some oats. Always works for me after dropping a few sandballs to the bottom, and wait about 20mins before putting lines out.

Thought I would post up a report since I haven’t seen any of the other guys post up that were down there with me. We mainly trolled the first 5 days we were there spending a little time at the reef on the way in to catch dinner. We picked at the tuna (8-10 pound range) all week and a couple slinger dolphin.

Weather was pretty good it was 2-3 most of the week but a little choppy from the wind. Layed down a bit on Wednesday I believe but the chop had scattered the weeds. Caught a few nice red grouper and a nice black that was about 25 pounds. Sucked to throw them back. Good weed lines the first few days in 6-700 ft. Stream was close while we were there about 5 miles off the reef.

Acres of mullet in sister creek and tons of tarpon rolling in there all day. Decided to net some mullet one day coming in and try the tarpon that night. Caught my first tarpon ever after about a 20 min soak on a mullet. Right at 90 pounds caught in the first bend to the left coming from the ocean in sister creek.

Plenty of great yt action on the reefs. Found flags in about 120 foot but you could barely keep a jig head on for the rat Kings. Caught a nice keeper triple tail one afternoon that was almost completely yellow. Not sure why the color difference.

All in all a great trip and time with the family. Can’t wait to get back in June. Oh and traffic coming home was a nightmare on 95. Took 19 hours to get to Greenville from marathon. The wild fires had 95 shut down around Daytona. Yamaha sipped the fuel all week we only burned about 90 gallons Fishing and trolling 6 days. Truck on the other hand burned about 190 gallons pulling the boat down and back. That 9.3 mpg hurts. I would post some pics but since photo bucket stopped working I can’t really figure out how to find the link on imgur mobile app to post them.

Assorted colors of 3-4 inch plastic “squid”. Flurocarbon leader. Go to the hump at first light and troll way back, and I mean WAY back.

Yellow tail up is great but a little pricey. They sell a back of oats buy the same company in West Marine it has oil mixed in. Glad you made it home safe dan dropped my boat in Sarasota so I didn’t have the fires on 95 . Let me know when your going back down . Stop in Sarasota

The Yellowtail Up works awesome !

I still have the 2 bags if anyone wants to give it a shot, then you wont have to wait for World Wide Sportsman to open at 10 am when you are driving down early to beat the traffic. I’ll throw in a new 5 gal rope handle bucket to mix it in too.

otherwise I will keep it until next year

Happy Fishing

World Wide or Tackle Center? Two different places. Tackle Center is locally owned.

Just got back from the Keys last week. Put the boat in at Naples and ran over. We swung out deep and fished from Key West to Marathon. Got several tips that Mahi were found in 700+ but small. Tips were pretty much spot on. Picked up 8 between 700’ and 1200’. Most in 900-1000 around broken weed patches due south from Marathon.
