March 1st and 2nd report

Drove down from home fri morning and was on the water by 830. Rivers were muddier than I had expected but I was still able to find a few fish. I stayed in the little river all but about 2 hours both days. Friday I managed 12 fish with 3 keepers and the rest shorts. They bit evenly on down rods and planer boards. The big fish was 11# and hit a down rod.

On saturday a friend and myself headed to clouds creek at first light but after an hour I moved back to the fish I had found on friday. We caught 17 with only two being short fish. All fish came on free lines and planer boards in 8 to 15 feet of water. I fished all day in a 400 yard section. It was holding a lot of fish but they were really slow to bite. I think the front coming through made them sluggish. Every hour or so it was like several fish would move up on the flat and feed then drop back. First time I’ve experienced a bite like that. Usually I would have left for other fish but I decided to wait it out and it turned out to be the right decision.

Sorry for the long post, but I hope this helps somebody out. I’ll be back down Saturday looking to get the drag pulled. Tightlines!
