March Meeting Program

Our March meeting is in less than a week! Rick Sineath(our resident technology guy) has offered to do a presentation on…wait for it…wait for it…wait for it…technology! He plans to focus on apps available for mobile devices that can help your fishing game. From weather to fishing logs there’s an app for that and Rick is the man to help show us the way. Please come out to the Flight Deck on March 10th at 7:00 PM to hear what Rick has to share with us. Come early if you want to eat. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

This should be interesting and I’m looking forward to it. Rick, try to dumb it down enough for us old(er) people, namely me, who aren’t as tech savvy.

-The size of a fish is directly proportional to the time between when it’s lost and the story is told. - Me
-What’s the best eating fish, you ask? I’ve found that for a lot people, its the ones that they happen to be able to catch, clean, and cook. - My Dad
-Until you have loved a dog, part of your soul remains unawakened. Anatole France (paraphrased)
-RIP my “Puppy Dog” 10/15/2004 - 1/14/2013. I’ll never forget him. What a special friend he was.

Naaa, it’ll be easy to follow along … I just hope the technology cooperates with the presentation … LOL …

With my luck the tech I need to use to present will fail me and I’ll have to give the presentation “Stone Age” style …

I agree Great presentation, man I don’t know if I can keep up with all this new stuff!!

Me too! A program we’ve never had before. Always good to keep up with new technology, as painful as it is for me…

Well if you guys are having trouble keeping up then I would be more than happy to help out any way I can …

In fact, if you would like, you all can send me your fishing logs and I will enter all the information in the Fishing Log app and then send it back to you …

for FREE …

I hate that I missed it. I need all the help that I can get.

Great program Rick. I like how you think outside the box!

I enjoyed the program Rick. Trying out the My Fishing Companion app that you mentioned. What program do you use to view the files that you export?

Excel is probably the best (and most expensive since it’s part of the Microsoft Office Suite) program to use, but there are any number of free .CSV file viewers out there …

Just Google ‘How to view a .CSV file’ and you should come up with plenty of alternatives …

Pretty sure that Open Office (which is free) (https://www.openoffice.org/) can also view almost anything that Microsoft Office can …

You can check any of those out

Got it now. I was exporting them at the main screen and getting a text file instead of the CSV. You export from the ‘View Fish’ page to get the CSV. Now if I can just get out on the water.

The text file will give you the Trip Notes and some other data whereas the csv file will give you all of the data EXCEPT the Trip Notes … Hopefully the next version will allow you to export the Notes with the rest of the data

Hate I missed the meeting. I could have written it all down in my blackberry.

:smiley::smiley: Yep. That famous “blackberry.” Lee, you’re a real wizard with that old school “stylus.” I was hoping you would be there to get your take on it all. For the new people in the club, his “blackberry” is a small black notebook and pen. Old school rocks!
