Does anyone know of a local source for marine grade plywood? Thanks.

That place on the old Navy Base as you go in on Mcmillan might have it.

I went with exterior grade plywood. It will be sealed with epoxy and then layered in glass and epoxy. Then topped off with 2-3 coats of primer and 2-3 coats of topside paint. Last coat will get non-slip added to it. I want a durable finish that easy to keep clean.

Chris, I am adding a casting deck to the back of my little skiff.

TR, save some money and laminate it with resin. Epoxy is overkill. Also if you are going to glass it in place it is best to use resin with resin and epoxy with epoxy.

Epoxy resin has a much closer flex rate to wood then polyester resin does plus it has far superior bonding properties where wood is involved. Epoxy is in a lot if cases overkill, but where wood is involved, best bet is to stick with epoxy. You can use epoxy resin over the top of polyester resin but not the other way around. The amines in the cured epoxy resin can effect uncured polyester resin and not allow it to harden completly. Plenty of polyester resin out there on wood that will hold up ok, but best bet is epoxy.

I did essentially the same thing on the bow of a jon boat and used a good quality plywood that a neighbor uses to build wooden boats. I figure if it is completely encapsulated in resin and fiberglass and then painted it should last at least 10 years.
