marine supply house?

Do we have a good marine supply house locally that carries paints, primers, filling/fairing compounds, etc.? And isn’t absurdly expensive compared to online prices. I’m not talking about about a dealer/service/engine repair oriented shop that has two gallons of paint on the shelf. Somebody who has plenty of different options to compare.

I’ve built a couple surfboards and looked to west marine for supplies. They’re insultingly expensive. Here’s the only trick with them, if you’re a business owner and you register with them they’ll get you into a west marine club(?) and the prices they offer and comparable (not cheaper) than what you find on the internet.

You might also try http://www.illstreet.net/ they have a lot of fiberglass and resin supplies and are local to James Island. You order on the net or phone and can do a local pick-up.

After trying both, I order all my supplies off the internet.

Thanks. Yes, West Marine has what I need. Prices tend to have me only visiting when I absolutely need something IMMEDIATELY.

Always wondered what in the heck they did in the Ill Street building.

Isn’t Donavan Marine only wholesale distributor though?

I’ll agree with this as long as you know exactly what you’re asking for. If you need some help figuring out what product you need from them you may have to try a couple times.
