Great blue marlin bite in Guatemala right now. As known, summer to fall can produce a very good marlin fishery. Oct 15th we made it out for a test run on the new 35 bertram, refitted with cummins B series, and started fishing just 12 miles as we entered the blue water cut in front of the marina. At about 14 miles, we had our first blue in the spread, we quickly got it hooked up and released on the 50 lb pitch bait. We continued to see 5 more blue throughout the day, working a small area, and just 8 sails, as well as 2 nice bull dorado for lunch. Our focus was blues, dragging mostly big stuff in the afternoon. Bringing the final blue marlin tally to 2 blues for 3 bites, 5 up. We called it a day at 1pm, back at the dock at 2pm.
Water temps are holding steady at 84 in certain places, to 86 which is normal for this stretch. Other boats further offshore reported the same activity of marlin, which concludes the area is massive. We need more steady days to work this area. More to come!
Also folks, we are just a couple weeks away from the tournament in El Salvador if anyone is interested. We have spots still open!! $1,950 per person, includes buy in!! Great prizes at this tourney!
