Rock salt loads are bunk, if you get lucky you may sting someone 5 yards away after that …. nothing but fine powder. Now if you take some rice and soak it in salt and allow to dry and load it’s good for about 20yards… no more.

I just flashed back to Dad tearing my behind up for loading some shells with rock salt and shooting them through his shot gun. It is an urban legend unless you almost have the barrel touching the ……. what ever it was I was shooting at.
