Mary Lee Eating The Redfish

Expect the catch to go down whenever she is around- http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20131106/PC1610/131109567/1177/great-white-shark-mary-lee-returns-to-the-lowcountry-that-made-her-famous-might-be-pregnant

dun dun, dun dun

I think Mary Lee eating redfish would be about like us eating sunflower seeds, gonna take a lot of them to make supper:smiley: She probably eats 8’ sharks and dolphin.

She probably eats every one within sight, day after day. Puts a serious dent in what’s left for the rest of us, lol.

And they’ve probably been doing it since before humans were on the earth. She probably has friends too

Makes you wonder how many of those guys are hanging out around here.

All fishermen are liers except me and you and I’m not sure about you.

Let 'er eat. I like the pic I saw of 1/2 a dolphin she supposedly ate. I hate dolphin…

Knocked up, too. Playa

No doubt about them being older than us. As for friends, they got lucky and tagged a couple. There is no way that she is alone.

No doubt, for every 1 they tagged, they’re probably hundreds/thousands more.

Gotta agree on the dolphin…although I wouldn’t say I ‘hate’ them, but man, I bet they eat a lot of reds/trout, etc (even though I throw 99% of mine back, there’s no catch n release with dolphins).
Now fish eating birds, I could care less about.

I would say she pretty much eats whatever she wants too…

A bad day fishing is much better than a good day at work.

Could be her left overs…

Hope she leaves a few for everybody to catch.

Why is he still smiling?

NOAA says its unlikely Mary Lee was involved with the half dolphin. Wish someone would get a picture of Mary Lee somewhere around here. As scary as it is to know there are Great Whites here it is very interesting.

I don’t care if her name in Mary Lee or Betty Sue, anything that can bite a dolphin in half like that can easily do it to you. Big sharks have been here since before man. I figure it’s just a test to see if you’ve been living right, sort of like lightning  It will either get you or it won’t, usually it won’t, and I can’t spend my life inside the house worrying about it.

I’ve flown light aircraft up and down the beach fronts in the summer when the beaches are packed with people. Just past and in between the swimmers along the break line you can sometimes see hundreds of large sharks, just cruising along. If most people knew what swam in these waters they would never get in it[:0]

Is it OK for me to say that here? Is the chamber of commerce a forum sponsor?

I’ve commented on this subject before, but 3 years ago on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, Caleb and I saw a great white MUCH larger than Mary Lee at the 4 KI. It was one of the scariest but most fascinating experiences I have ever had in a boat. It circled the boat (18 ft Tidewater) for several minutes before going back down. We were using Sabiki rigs to catch bait but the c-bass were so thick, we were hooking 3-4 at a time and then would get cut off. Finally, she came up with the rig right at the boat and I almost peed myself! Caleb saw it first and though it was a whale. She was VERY curious and got close to bumpimg the motor several times, but I would put it in gear to stay ahead of her. I doubt I’ll ever witness anything like it again, but you guys who get in the water diving this time of year have got steel cahones as these awesome predators are moving through.

I swear I’ve seen shadows diving the wrecks at 4KI…scary but oh well they have always been around so I guess I’ll keep at it until I see one and poop my wetsuit! Or get a 50 cal bangstick…automatic…I think the only reason we know of them is due to the recent taggings and publishing it on the net…
