EXCELLENT!! Very brave of you to lift that monster into the boat.

That’s a lot of meat to get to the boat with a spinning rod:sunglasses:

I caught one about the same size, week before last, but it was in 120’ of water and on heavy grouper fishing tackle. Dang thing almost brought me to my knees and made me cry. My back still hurts. That is not an easy fish to catch right there.

Looks like you are trying to recreate Steve Irwin tragedy … nice catch though

I definitely wouldn’t have put that sucka in that size boat. Be careful

dont sting ray taste good? I know some sea scallops are actually sting ray wings cut out with cookie cutter type punch. Just wondering cause I would haul that sucker home too.

My brother and I hooked one that size near the Hwy 41 boat ramp. Caught on a jig. After about 30 minutes, we just cut the line.

I think I saw yall hok up on that, I was in a kayak, kept looking to see what you had on but missed the landing

Stingray venom delivered from the barb in the tail is exactly like rattlesnake venom. It causes unimaginable pain and rapid tissue necrosis. No antidote.

not in my boat

No way in hell I’d bring that thing on board. I’ve been stung twice, once on the hand and the other on the foot. Hurt worse than anything I’ve ever had, including kidney stones.

It is a nice ray but it’s a death wish to put that thing on board with you, especially when it’s that big and it’s tail is that long. I bet the barb on that thing is like 3 inches long.

Brave or slow in the head?

there is no way you could possibly be aware of the danger associated with a ray that size and decide to bring it into a boat that small… Ignorance is bliss, until it gets you killed…

If you did know what you were getting into then I have to seriously question your decision making abilities… not smart, and not funny… I’m just glad we’re reading this here and not in an accident blotter in the P&C…

glad you had fun, but next time leave him in the water and remove the hook if you can… cut the line close to the hook if you can’t…
