MASSIVE STINGRAY!!!!!!!!

Went out fishing for sheephead on sunday, august 5th and caught a 17" black drum and a 12" sheephead. So we got bored and took the castnet and caught some small shrimp, put em onn the bottom and caught a rat red and a couple large croaker and then we gut hooked a 9" croaker so we put it out on the shark rod, had it out for 30 minutes and was about to leave when i looked over the rod was double over so i grabbed it and the fight began, after a 45 min fight i was pretty tired, was hoping for a shark but man all i can say was i was still happy to see how big this ray was, im assuming it was over 100lbs, im 6’ tall and 250lbs and it took everything i had to pull it in the boat, then i cut the hook and released em, that definatly made my night:smiley: i will be posting pics tonight:smiley::smiley::smiley:

I don’t even put 2lb rays in my boat. Why would you put a giant one in yours? Hah sounds fun though

Eager to see pics…be careful with those rays though! My father got hit by one about two months ago. His hand hurt and was swollen for weeks…

“In every species of fish I’ve angled for, it is the ones that have got away that thrill me the most, the ones that keep fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish. If we didn’t, much of the thrill of angling would be gone.” Ray Bergman

Looking forward to the pictures, sounds like a fun time

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
