material for floor of duck boat

i previously had treated plywood with carpet on top on the floor of my war eagle, it has all but rotted out, i am looking for a new material other than wood to replace it. the wood gets water logged and weighs a ton. Any ideas, ive thought about starboard, but heard it is ridiculously expensive and heavy.

Cut insulation to fit between the ribs and glue them in place (the hard stuff, not the rolled stuff). Then get some of that matting you would get for a weight bench and cut to fit between seats and gunnels. Glue this over the ribs and insulation and you have a quiet and somewhat insulated floor.

Just did this a few weeks back and it works like a champ. And you dont have to worry about shrimp or other small bait getting stuck under it and smelling the whole place up.

is it possible to buy a 4x8 or 4x9 sheet of aluminum anywhere!! i think that would be my best bet, light, very durable, no rot, no rust, wont get water logged!! only issue is painting it, anybody have an idea of what it would cost to rhino line one!!

there is a guy used to work for hanckel will spray your boat for around $300 htere is also a metal joint on cross county road will sell you sheet diamond deck. if you spray the boat you wont be able to weld it without grinding off spray. there is a product called grizly grip that you can buy and roll on was going to do my john boat until i had to have some welding done and marc googer talked me out of it. you can buy rubber mats from sams (restaurant pads and cut them to fit between ribs then just pull them out to clean boat. no hiding of old bait, hooks etc. good luck

I have put diamond deck aluminum in many boats just for that same reason.I have also put smooth aluminum plate in th.en rhino lined .They all have came out great

As I stated in a previous post, I have some pre-made fiberglass panels, you could cut it to fit your floor. All glass and composite material, no wood, boat your size the piece would weigh around 30 lbs, cut it to fit and screw it down to the ribs. We have done this to 4 or 5 jon boats, if you are interested give me a call at 843-870-8675

Diamond deck will get hot as fire, and heavy too.
By the time you get something thick enough to support weight it will be heavy.
Almost any unfinished metal will get hot.
