Mayhem & Madness 5/16

Great ride out Monday morning as we went waaaayyyyy out to find fish. Started on the other side of 380 Hole. Caught 2 dolphin and they were small. Usually get nice size fish out there. Anyway, couldn’t find anything substantial to fish around and decide we had enough of the current and chop as the wind picked up. Came back in and found a good break in about 300’, same break a few others found as well. Picked at them and the size was much better. One side of the break was really choppy and the other side was calmer. My buddy “Going Broke” was working the choppy side and catching fish as we worked the calm side and caught fish. Didn’t matter which size you were on. With my rookie crew from Newberry, I opted for the easier side.

When we got back to the SI ramp, a young man from DNR was doing a survey on the fish caught. We let him measure and weigh a few fish for his records.

Bove, an avid bass tournament fisherman, says they fight a bit harder than those large mouth.

You can’t tell, but Jeremy lost his stomach several times throughout the day and kepted battling. Nice to have tough crewmen on board that don’t succomb to the sea sickness.
