Thinking about running south in the ICW in April with the family to see the show. Anyone on here watch the air show from the water? Very limited information online not sure best spot to stop and how well you can see the show? I make the run from Charleston fairy regularly so I know the route and pretty familiar with Beaufort as well. Any suggestions?
Best bet would be atound whale branch. We used to to set up on rabbit island because that’s where we partied anyway. Matter of fact, an F35 crashed into the island a few months back. Also had a blue angel crash about 5 miles from there about 12 years ago. Tragic.
The jets use the broad river like a highway.
Not anytime soon, but town does an air show during water festival and the Beaufort sandbar is … unrivaled.
Guess we had a different name than the smart folks at google. 32.480121, -80.809134 Plug that into google.
be hard to see the show from there:smiley:

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Beats trailering onto the air station and sitting in the boat.
How about in the intercoastal waterway right behind the air station? Somewhere around Mulligan Creek or just south of that in the ICW? I doubt they would let you get anywhere close to the MCAS pier but figure as long as you are in the ICW you would be fine? That looks like that puts you closer to runway than Whale Branch/Broad River. Just not sure of what direction they fly?
Depending on the tide coming from Edisto and entering the Beaufort river there is a large sandbar on the right. Nice place at low tide to set up. Sometimes gets a little crowded.
