My new to me 01’ McKee 16 has wet/rotten ply in the stern. When I took out a stern mounting screw the hole began to weep sticky brown goo.I overdrilled the hole and found wet plywood shavings. From lots of observation I believe that the hull itself is fine, but what if anything should I do to the boat? Is a fix even possible? How did the water get in there?
thanks,
Rob
Do you drive a yellow jeep? Going to church on Sunday we were behind a yellow jeep towing what I though was a McKee from johns island all the way to Ft Johnson Rd. The whole way it sloshed water out of the drain hole I didn’t think a little boat could hold so much water. Hopefully it wasn’t you.

Wet goo dripping out of mounting holes in stern sounds like rot and will need stern replaced,no easy way to get around it,
PM cracker larry , think he has method to determine how bad it is!!!
Good luck…
