Meatfish Slam 4/22/15

Left the dock just before 3:30am for the slow ride out aboard the Never Satisfied. Received a false alarm of what we thought to be a flare in the distance and later determined that it was a center consoles super-bright spreader lights off in the distance. We were relieved to find out that all was well, and began to deploy the spread just after day break.
5 minutes into the troll, the first reel went screaming. 15 minutes later, we boated a 50# (approx) wahoo.
High fives all around and we re-deploy the spread. A few minutes later, the second reel is screaming. We fought the fish all the way to the boat, see that it?s just a few lbs lighter, so, our leader man let him off the hook to let him grow a little more.
The wahoo bite turned off after that so we turned our focus over to tuna and mahi. Slowly picked at the fish for several hours. Picked up 3 bft, 1 mahi, and another wahoo to complete the slam, then made the call to head towards the bottom fishing grounds.
Packed on a load of lunker bsb, vermillion, triggerfish, pinkies, and a decent sized white grunt to close out the day.
The ride in was slow and nasty, but we made it back without too much trouble just after 8pm. Cleaned up the boat and the slam fish, then called it a day.
More pics to come…

The CC with the spreader lights, were you a little shy of the SW banks when you saw that?

Yep. Was that you guys?
We couldn’t see the boat on radar, and we only saw the lights for about 10 seconds. We hailed the Coast Guard to make sure there no missing boaters or anything. We were very relieved to see the blip on radar and finally determine that it was a boat making way.

Nice Chris.

Is that your new boat? Give me a holler next trip!
