Heard a mayday call Sunday that if it weren’t so serious,I wouldn’t have
believed possible.Crew member 60 miles offshore with heart attack symptoms,chest pain,clammy skin,tingling sensation ect…
I was just wondering if anyone else heard the back and forth between the CG and the captain?
We could hear the chopper setting up to remove him, pilot is so calm explaining everything…sorry they had and issue but it was cool to hear the CG operate…calm cool and collected.
We were listening to it as well from the near shore reef but could only hear the Coast Guard. Apparently, the guy was bleeding from the mouth for some reason and they kept asking if there was trauma. Then it sounded like the Capt of the fishing boat was arguing about heading back towards Charleston so the guy could get the proper medical attention. Saw the chopper on the way out and back in.
Boat operater was not very happy w the CG asking him to change course towards Charleston rather than Murrels inlet yet his crew members symptoms seemed to be getting worse by the minute.
I may be wrong but to me and my crew it sounded like he was in no shape to drive anything…His attempts to relay his position would have been comical if the situation would have been different.
Cudos to CG, very impressive how the chopper found them by radio frequency. Glad to hear he is OK. Captain didn’t sound stressed or planning to change his plans. Don’t know what kind of friend he was. Wonder how he was navigating not being able to give any coordinates.
