Medium or Medium Light

Hey everyone! My family all chipped in and bought me birthday gifts and one of them was a new St Croix Legend Xtreme Inshore series rod. It is the medium action and here is my question. I typically throw artis for trout and reds almost all year. Should I return the medium action for a medium-light or just keep the medium? I also throw topwater as well. But I do have quite a few other rods I can use for topwwater or artis as well. Just trying to see if anyone has experience with these rods and also what action they chose. Thank you!

I have never used those rods but I would be in favor of lighter especially for artificials when fatigue is a concern. I know that for artificials, my lightest rod outperforms other rods consistently because I can cast it further, allowing for more lure time in the water. Also, it’s easier and lighter to cast, which is nice if you are doing hundreds of casts in a day. Additionally, I believe a very light rod tip is ideal for trout because of their weak mouths

I prefer their medium light a lot more but if you do a lot of fishing around docks you may want to go medium

Thanks guys. I opted for the medium light
