The kids were supposed to fish the SSWA Youth Tourney Saturday, but like Too Busy noted, due to unpredictable weather it was postponed. So rather than a 5:00 a.m. wakeup, we decided to fish whenever we got up and take what the fish gave us.
Fished incoming tide from the harbor up the Cooper. Got into some ladyfish, which was fun, but other than that - a bust.
Decided to hit 2 spots and then head home ahead of afternoon storms. First spot got on fish. Caught a few reds, Ethan and I both lost BIG reds:frowning_face:, and I hooked into a nice 18" trout which normally would be released but bleeding profusely.
Release to die or take home and fry? We chose the latter, but needed a couple more. I hate having one in the cooler and hoping for more.
Tried a new spot and plucked off a 14" trout. Nothing else happening so we decide to head to the landing and make extra fries and hush puppies to eat with our 2 fish.
I told Megan at the dock, “Dinner is on you! You need to catch one more while I load the boat!” I get the trailer backed and boat loaded, and I look over and she has the rod bent! One more 14" trout! If we keep any, we keep 3, so that made a perfect meal for us tonight!
All fish caught about 1/2 way into rising tide around creek mouths close to the marsh line. Mud minnows on a jighead and popping cork did the trick!
