Took the Seablocker Windshields test vessel out on a liitle R&D trolling trip yesterday. I’d say the weatherman was spot on. 3’ or so at 6 seconds right on our nose on the way out. Worse part was at the jetties but a few miles past the rocks it got more managable, not fun, just managable. Tough to get on a plane but it got better as we got further and further out. A friend said to put lines in at 100’ so when we got to the Commanche we did and almost immedietely had a hard knockdown on the daisy chain. Blew out the swivel so never saw him. Had anoth fish hit hard and broker the wire leader on a ballyhoo, never saw him either. Eventually boated a couple of nice dolphin and a king. Which we considered a success since there was no visible life out there! No rips, breaks or weeds. I mean not 1 scrap of weed. They didn’t want meat either as all fish were caught on lures. No consistency to color/size etc. The mahi were caught when we had Lynyrd Skynryrd on the stereo and the king when we switched over to Drive By Truckers. Typical stuff there so no surprises on the music/fish pattern.
We trolled from the Commanche to 140’ then turned South and trolled back to Chas for awhile before picking up the lines. All knockdowns occured in less then 130’. Hit Shem Creek at 2 pm and burned 68 gallons, would have been less if we could have planed more on the way out.

Quality post! I’ve found over the years that the music playing on a boat is directly related to the catch (or lack thereof).
Oh no doubt on the music-fish correlation. I pick my cd’s to match the spread, I just assumed everyone else did as well. It is just so obvious…I mean why else does satellite radio exist? Can’t get regular radio at the Stream. If you want to increase your 'cuda and remora catch just crank up the Tim McGraw and Shania Twain.
I can’t believe you didn’t hook up more once you switched to the DBTs! I would think Lookout Mountain would have to raise the fish.

That's funny! I listened to AC/DC and Joan Jett all weekend and didn't catch @#@#.
If the fish won’t bite, strap on a tank go down and make em!
I only bring 1 Drive By Truckers cd per trip as I’m not a fan of eating King. I love the way they run though and the one yesterday burned the line of the Shimano like it was a screaming Stratocaster on a DBT solo!
Good post. I’m also a big believer in music/fish thing. Just wanted to tell you I recently fished on a friends Sea Hunt with a Sea Blocker recently installed. I forgot my foul weather gear at home and was dreading being soaked for all day. Glad to say I was dry to the bone hiding behind the Sea Blocker! I still had to take a shower when I got home to wash the skunk off though. We’ll get em next time!
SeaBlocker,
Thanks for the report was there much size to the king?

Somewhere between 20# and 25# on the King. Brought in by my 11 yr old nephew on his first offshore trip. Hit on a blue & silver squid daisy chain w/ a purple trailing hooked bait.
i agree on the music we caught our first sailfish during the guitar solo of free bird it was pretty cool
