Memorial Day #2

Put in this morning at 7:30 on the landing at Bowens. The tide was perfect. Paddled to the flats with TONS of bait everywhere. Once we got to the shell beds, I look down to see a school of 7-10 Reds go right under the 'yak. Trout and Reds were chasing bait just about everywhere I looked. I made the mistake of thinking something about “fish in a barrel”. As easy as it would seem, I had a 24" Trout release itself from my lap, to my dismay, and a nice Red make a nicer run before pulling the hook. Did I mention they were everywhere and I threw them everything in my possession at least once. So I ended the day with me-0 fish-2. I did learn a lesson though…I WILL have live bait next time I go back there. All in all a great day on the water.
