Decided to chase some bottom fish Monday with my girlfriend and parents since the ocean was going to be nice, woke up stuffed up so diving was out and decided would be chasing rod and reel all day instead of both shooting and H&L.
Headed out of Belle Isle in Georgetown about 8 with a slight wind chop on a nice ocean. Tons of bait at the nearshore reef but was tough getting them to eat a sabiki while AJs had them balled up on the surface. After we scrounged up a few, headed out to some bottom in 85-95ft.
Fought through more seabass than we could count, picking up a limit of silvers, some b-liners and a single trigger. Monster BSB were crushing grouper baits left and right but eventually girlfriend caught her first scamp.

Then I picked up another right behind her.

22lbs
The bigger scamp had a few cigar minnows in his throat (with hooks ripped out of their noses) so I think they were down there sitting under the BSB knocking the baits off and gobbling them as they fell. Or he could have been sneaky and just grabbing them all.
Either way, had an awesome day and ready to get back out there for some more. We wouldn’t have had to measure a single BSB for size. Got a few pictures of some studs on another camera I will get up later
