Rolled out of IOP on the new 29’ everglades, Grady’s boat, first stop about 130’ and got all mahi’d up… fished out to 170’ and the sailfish in the pics hit and gave us a nice ride. He nailed a way back islander, it was a good hook set in the forward part of the mouth, he did some dancing but we pretty much handled it. I was on the rod, KT handled the fish, Grady on the wheel, and David on the camera… perfect time. Nice sail, beautiful fish, good release… when he swam off he popped his sail wide open and sort of waved goodbye to us before slipping back into the blue… ran out to 300’ and immediately hit a mahi quad hook up, i of course managed to lose the nicest of the group, he was a bit too large and too green… my bad. Ran in and fished the big temp break with about a half dozen other boats, pulled a few fish out of that area and broke for home…hoping to spot a target of opportunity on the way in but alas… here’s a few pics…

oops forgot to mention this, did anyone happen to find a bent butt rod/reel combo perhaps being towed by a huge wahoo… we seemed to have lost one, it was last seen around the EB moving rapidly to the east… no kidding… ended up with the sail, dozen or so mahi, and 3 kings… going to clean fish now… later on ya’ll…
Congrats on the sail!

Great job . Hows the fuel burn on that everglades.
Good job, on what seemed to be a slower day out there. Sorry to hear about the lost combo though…
Nice sail. Sorry about the rod:roll_eyes:

fuel burn was better than i was expecting… the capt, grady, topped her off yesterday and it looks that we burnt about 110 gallons during the day. the run out was pretty slow and we pulled 1 engine offline while trolling. the slowness ended when we started towards home. twin 350’s don’t like slow… neither does grady.
110 gallons is ■■■■ good for 350s!
Good day on the fish for you boys.

On a scale of 1 to 10. How fast did that bent butt go in the water.
Price of fuel…$425.00
Bent butt…$325.00
the look on Rusty Hooks face…Priceless
Nice report. What was the temp like in the 130’s? That sucks about the wahoo rod! he may still be draggin that thing around:smiley:
110 gallons is the chit! He ran around 200+ from HHI. That hurts at $4 a gollon. Our capt. doesn’t like to run slow either.

KT, aka Panic Attack… “there ain’t nothing on that rod, you’ll know it when something hits it”, on the speed scale that deal happened up there around 9 maybe 9.5… i was going to go behind it but it was over way way too fast… it didn’t shake, jerk, make a funny noise, that thing just went…now me and my friend KT are sharing a nice meat hook, it used to be mine, now its ours.
