menhaden = trout and red!

Had my bro-in-law and his fiance in town all week and we were able to take them out Friday afternoon to try to put him on his 1st redfish.
We putted up a creek off the Wando in search for bait and found a lot of action in the water.
I got on the bow, made 1 good throw and drug in about 40-50 menhaden!!
They were thick in there. This was on the flood.

Wanted to put him on a red so I ran to my not so secret spot for some action.
Put out 2 rods Carolina rigged against the grass and sure enough we had a double knock down pretty quick! He grabbed one and was a great fight with a 25" beautiful fish. He has done a good bit of bass fishing but quickly realized that you can’t just horse a 6.5 lb red to the boat. He took his time with him and the drag was just right to get him to the net!

The rod I grabbed was a good fight and hauled in a nice 16" trout! Which was soon to be outdone by a 21.5" spotty trout(with both fangs in front!) a few minutes later. My wife was actually taking my pic of the 16" while he was fighting the red in the background. I told to hurry up cause I didn’t want him to miss that red!

No more action after that so I moved on looking for a flat and saw a tailer so I got out and still had menhaden but the red kept going the wrong direction!
Hard to get skinny as I wanted to in the 22’. Spooked 1 red and couldn’t get a reaction out of the 2nd. oh well! was a couple of great hours anyway!
All fish released healthy!
