Menhaden?

Haven’t been fishing in a month and I was wondering, any reliable places where you guys are finding menhaden? Wando? Icw? Morris island? Any info is much appreciated --might save some frustration this weekend.

Thanks

Hey Bull. I have found menhaden in the ICW, Shem Creek, the Harbor, and in the Wando today. Saw some flickers, waited til I saw a marking on the fish finder and threw the net. Had a smaller cast net and probably caught 100 in one throw. The ones in Shem Creek are around 3" long. Work your way out in the harbor and we were getting around 5-6" menhaden. Hope this helps, tight lines!

Tons of them in the Folly River. You’ll see them flickering in the water.

I was going to say they are everywhere but they arent. However, they are almost every where in the larger creeks. you should not get frustrated trying to find them. I caught so many in one cast the other day i had trouble lifting the net into the boat. I was in the “no wake zone” just south of IOP marina in the ICW. Incoming tide. Also,Folly river near the park end of the island , JI creek mouth, stono river near the inlet, icw just before what i call the price inlet exit. Pretty much just watch for them flickering. If you only see a couple stop and cast b/c there is usually way more than you see flicker. I only saw two flicker the other day when i caught all those. Good luck:smiley:
