menhaden

been several months since I’ve been out fishing. I assume menhaden have shown up but was wondering if anyone has any advice on good places to look for them. I am hoping to fish at the jetties this weekend. thanks in advance

Just have to take the time to look around. They are in the river now.

Chumking could even catch them right now. They are everywhere.

Saw a school next to the dock as I was tying up this afternoon, so I threw the cast net at them for fun. Probably caught two hundred in two banana shaped throws. That raises the question, though, what do you use them to fish for inshore? I’ve only ever used shrimp or mud minnows.

They are showing up off the beach as well. The Pelibirds were diving on them most of this past Sat. morning. All day I saw flickering schools maybe 100yds. out. ASSuming they were Menhaden. Didn’t see any Mullet jumping this weekend though?

look for the pelicans. I was out yesterday in the Wappoo Cut and there was bait everywhere, same in the harbor and up the Ashley.

I quit looking for bait. I find it much easier to catch if you just let it come to you. No more driving around looking for bait

“Z” you will be supprised what you will catch on menhaden inshore, everything from flounder to striper!

I did see quite a bit in about 8-10 feet of water off the beach yesterday
