Merc throttle question

Now have a 2008 Merc and it seems more difficult than it should be to hit neutral. Yamaha had a hard click to it when moving to/from neutral position. The Merc doesn’t and easily goes past neutral without feeling anything. Is there something that needs tightening or adjusting to give more of a click or stop before engaging in forward or reverse? Hope that makes sense.

I’ve owned Mercs all my life and have always felt the “click” between fwd and rev. I’ll go on to say that I owned a Evinrude once and even a couple of Yamahas and all have reacted pretty much the same. Maybe your throttle friction is set too stiff? Maybe the cables need to be lubed.

You probably have the Digital Throttle System and it takes getting used to. There is an adjustment screw usually on the port side of the throttle that you can tighten and it will give a more distinctive “click”.
