I have an Albemarle 27 express, repowered in 2008 with 300 mercuisers (350cci) I need someone that is mobile and can come put the diagnostic meter on it and see if I can find out what’s wrong. Motor wont rev past 3000 rpm, after idling for a period of time it backfires and eventually stalls and will not restart. Have already changed plugs, dist. cap, and rotor. I don’t want to just throw more new parts at it. I believe it may have a “brain” problem. PM or call me if you can help.

Twin motors and they both suddenly have the same problem?
If so I’d suspect the fuel first.
Are they carb’s or fuel injected?
I would try to hook up an alternate fuel source to eliminate bad fuel as the culprit.
Only the port side is doing it. Fuel pumps were replaced in December.

if they have the flat cap distributor, replace the cap and clean out the condensation in the distributor. The OEM caps have aluminum terminals and corrode badly, most aftermarket have brass terminals and hold up better. Seen this give your problem on more than one occasion.
