We have older Hells Bay w/ 40 Mercury- 2 stk. Someone took out original battery and put in large one.
The original battery clamp max battery size is 6.75 W x 4” D and e.5-5” tall.
what will fit and be strong enough?
The came with Odyssey batteries, probably better options available now(Odyssey’ are heavy for their size), call batteries plus, tell them you want 500 cold cranking amps in a battery the size you mentioned. Some use atv or lawn mower batteries. I carry enough crap with me when I fish that I’m not worried over a few pounds, so i just swap out the tray to a group 24 and run a regular starting battery
