mercury oil issues

i have a 99 150 saltwater series mercury outboard. i have heard the auto oil mixers often times break, cuasing the motors to burn up.i am thinking of disconnecting it and adding oil manualy.any thoughts on this? anyone had any problems?

numerous rebuild due to oil injection failures
definately suggest disabling and premix.

i had to do that to my 99 johnson sfew years back due to the vro pump failed. due cost of a vro that mixes the fule i opted for a straight fuel pump and mix my own gas. so far its worked out well just make sure you mix in seperate gas cans and not in the built in boat tank that way you can precisely mix so to speak good luck

Sounds like you drank the Kool-Aid at the last Yamaha cult meeting. There’s nothing wrong with a Merc; the guy is just looking for some input with a good question.

Is disabling easy to do? I have a 2002 90 HP Merc.
