Does anyone happen to have an engine wiring diagram that correctly covers a 2005 optimax? The only one I can find is for a 2000 and is not correct for the 2005 150hp I’m helping a friend with. He is having a shut down with no alarms problem at higher rpms. Just prior to shut down, the volt meter for that engine starts to wiggle and then after a few seconds, it just stops running. Starts right up again, and we are trying to isolate the problem. Thanks.
only way I know to get that is order the old service manual. the wiring diagram is in the back.
i would start with taking all the ground wires loose and cleaning them, that motor is one of the most voltage sensitive motors I have ever seen.
does that one have the belt driven car style alternator?
if so, seen the diodes inside fail and cause similar issues

I Have swapped ICU, and alternator (belt driven car style) between engines and checked all grounds, plugs and harnesses. No change. New key switches and wiring harness to engines again no change. New 1200 CCA batteries and all cables and again no change.
The volt meter on the effected engine starts to flutter when above say 3500rmp and a few seconds later just shuts down. I wish I could find out what conditions will tell the ICU to shut down and not report a fault.
The only service manual I can find (and thus have) starts at model year 2000, but the engine electrical diagram is not correct.

call Duncan boats and ask for Rudy, and give him the serial number of the motor and he should be able to get you the correct manual
