Anyone have a mercury top mount control box available? I’m curious if my older style cables will work in new style box.

Yes. thank have gen 1 cables and want to see how the gen 2 cables attach
there was a change in cable design, but I am not sure when the year model change took place

gen 2 cables move the pivot point further back from the end of the cable to reduce the angles.They attach the same way, but bind less. No they will not interchange. BTW, the newer control boxes are much nicer than the gen 1 boxes and are worth the effort and $ to upgrade
How about some gen 2 cables? Can you measure from the socket where it is attached in the control box to the tip. With the travel shortened as much as possible
they wont interchange
I have gen i cables in a gen 2 box right now and it works just fine
