Mercury trim / tilt system

Helping a neighbor change the trim motor on a '98-90 Mercury that has a single ram. To loosen the screws that hold the reservoir in place, you must first disconnect the ram from the engine and rotate the assembly down. The ram connection has a pin that looks like a stainless nail with no threads. Does anyone know if this pin is just a press fit? does it need to be torched if it is really corroded? Thanks for any assistance.

I just went through all that on a Johnson

Woodfloats?

Many thanks. Based on you deductions; I decided to go heavy with the heat and used a 10# sledge. Project started & completed this afternoon.
