Merry Fishmas 2018

I’ll try and load some pics. They keep loading sideways and i dont feel like messing with it.

Merry Fishmas 2018. Day 1 Saturday 22 Dec.
Cooper, Water temp 53 degrees.
Low tide dropped quick. Was stuck in the mud several times but still managed to chase down 20+ reds and 1 trout. Biggest red 32”

That 32" came out of a 12ft wide ditch. The boat was sitting on the bottom.

Still breaking-in the new powerhead. Went for a run to the Don Holt bridge. Finished the day trolling back to the ramp for close to 2 hours. Threw a blade at 65mph. It flung up and left a nice beauty mark in the cowling.

Replaced with an old T-1 vented prop. It’s my suicide prop. It vents at the wrong times and loses grip in corners but a new prop is not in the cards right now. Yeah! Sunk another $580 dollars.

Merry Fishmas 2018. Day 2 Sunday 23 Dec.
Cooper, Water Temp 54 degrees.
Started the day working some points on the main river channel. Three reds early.

Moved to the creeks and skunked 2 out of 3. Finally found a pack in the mouth of a ditch. 12 slot reds and a 2lb Bass. They wanted it swimming today.

Merry Fishmas Day 3 Monday 24 Dec. 25+ reds, 3 trout.
Cooper, Water Temp 54 degrees.
Stuck to larger waters today. Tide is still running late but they were biting.

Good write up man! That’s crazy about the prop, but glad no one was actually injured! It’s crazy how expensive a “name brand” prop is these days…

Thanks, I really enjoy my time out there with the kids and hope they do to. Fishing Bushy is tough because it’s a minimum of 5 hours so they stay at home if it’s not really nice weather.

I missed MAD this year. I even went fishing as i have the day off. Half way through the trip it popped in my head. I took 2 Airman a year ago. I think they had more fun racing through the creeks than fishing. Good times. Thank you for all your efforts in making it happen.

My last prop 23p Tempest Plus was old and had been worked. It eventually developed a hairline fracture. Luckily I caught it before it ripped off.
This time it was a Fury 4. Supposed to be a tougher metal and handle higher “surfacing” operations. I dont blame the prop as the leading edge was damaged a few months ago when I hit a chunk of concrete (idle). I was stalling until Feb to get it fixed (my maintenance time). Ultimately my fault and lesson learned on delaying repairs.

Crazy grip on those 4 blades. Not sure if I go back to a $480 Tempest or $575 Fury 4. Just mailed off the boats tax checks. Dang that can put a real dent in the fishing budget.

Thanks Pod.
I cracked a beer and had a moment of silence before mounting it to the wall of shame. It remains among it’s fellow fallen brethren.
