I think this may very well have to be my next trip in the future with my Dad. I know I could contact Kevin but figured I’d ask here first. Whats a rough cost on a trip per day? Do they offer more of like an open party kind of option trip if its just two of us in our group? Best time of year to go? Would love to get in on some of that with you guys from Charleston! Killin’ me over here!!!
$1300 plus fuel and tips.
Fuel was $4.30 per gallon when we were there. We ran about 200 miles most everyday. I used 120-150 gallons everyday. A 37 Freeman with 900hp is gonna burn more than my boat.
It’s 25 miles from Venice to the jetties and then the rigs that they fish are typically 30-50 miles offshore. If the fish aren’t biting at Rig A they will head to another rig which might be 20 miles. If they aren’t biting there they may go to another rig. What I’m trying to say is that the fuel can vary.

Last yr we spent $900 ea.(6 folks) for two days of fishing with MGFC, limits both days on Yellowfins,up to 60lbs ea, very good trip. That was all expenses. This year we spent just under $1600 for a week. That is everything, 2 days charter, fuel, food, tips, houseboat, hauling a boat out of Ft. Myers Fla. for diving and two days tuna fishing on our own. Charter pickup at your back porch and we tied up our boat out the back door. A steal when our crew does our own cooking! We carried a electric chest freezer and three 125qt coolers, all full on the return trip.
Great guys with MGFC but as BrianH says, 1300 a day plus fuel, and the 37Freeman gets 1.1mpg! Take 6 the cost is the same, good luck!
If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
Ok thanks guys let me see how I can make this happen!

Make sure you ask around before you book. MGFC is good, but you may want to book with a certain captain…or avoid a certain captain.

Travis Mayeux with MGFC is running the old “Wild Bill”, Freeman hull #2 now the “Sweat Shop”. She ain’t as pretty as the new 37s but Travis is a fish killing machine and will have you laughing all day long. Very personal guy, you will consider him a long lost friend by the time you leave.
Also note the rate does not include tip. All these guys will work their butts off for you. They take fish killing personal and are very driven to have a successful day.
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
Scott, agreed. Travis or Kevin are both very good choices.
