MI 10/31-11/2

Went to see my parents in Murrells Inlet and do some fishing Fri, Sat, and Sun. Started out Friday at day break, picked up some live shrimp from Perrys, caught finger mullet at the dock and headed out. Caught a couple of jacks and a houndfish on the popping cork in the creeks. Headed to oaks but holy sh** were the spot fisherman everywhere. Counted over 60 boats in oaks. Fished oaks and caught one trout under the size on a finger mullet carolina rigged, and couldn’t catch anything else for the remainder of the day. Saturday we were still suffering from delusions of grandeur and we went fishing despite the rain and wind. Managed to catch some blues at the jetties and one flounder under size. After being cold, wet and miserable we went home to dry off and watch Carolina choke again. Sunday came and we headed out to the jetties again, ocean was as smooth as glass. Caught one blue as soon as the bait hit the water, and then someone switched on the fan. Wind started blowing so hard the anchor wouldnt hold us, and I told my dad I felt like I was on the Andrea Gail. We headed back in to the creeks to get skunked the rest of the day.

I have no idea what on earth I am doing wrong, but I can assure you I’m not doing anything right. I’m starting to think you old timers are posting pics from other places to make idiots like me think people catch fish in MI, lol. I usually fish there 3-5 times a year and have for the last 5 years and my biggest flounder came out of a cast net. This trip I threw mullet and shrimp on a popping cork and carolina rigged, DOA shrimp, and trout tricks and fished every inch of the inlet but Poseidon was making sure we caught nothing. All in all, we had a great time on the water with friends and family.
