<sigh>:roll_eyes:

You have 3 very rookie mistakes in this thread.

  1. Don’t give out pro tips on catching dolphin. Just post the pics, and numbers. Throw in a loran TD number here or there and say the bite was hot.

  2. NEVER compliment skinneej as being a boat that “brings in alot of fish” His head is already swollen and your are not helping.

  3. Posting video of lack luster gaff performance. Make sure to separate yourself from them. You are the pro anyone who misses a gaff shot is a rookie crew member that you were simply entertaining. Remember you laugh at him not with him.

:smiley::smiley::smiley:

Thanks for the pics and video. Being stuck at home it is nice live vicariously through someone.:wink:

Pflueger Reelman, there is no ugly wins in fishing. He put his a$$ in the boat! That is all that counts. If he looses the fish then we can critique. :wink:

Na, I am picking on him. Those boys went on a day VERY few did and put some great numbers in the boat. No disrespect intended. They did a very good job.

I have a very similar video of a crew member on our boat that did a MUCH worse job gaffing. I would post it again but he gets all pissy when I do.:slightly_smiling_face:

S4G, I wasn’t directing that at you. Mainly the “Pros” that come on here knocking others, even in the slightest(not necessarily this thread either).

I guess it has been a couple of months now, but all I can say is, that a few of the dolphin we somehow got in were real unlucky. We gave them every chance to scoot, but they insisted on a boat ride. :smiley: That’s the way it bees sometimes…:wink:

Rough seas always makes swinging a steel hook at fish, otherwise known as Gaffing…but the important part is getting the fish in the boat and on ice, plenty of ice

I remember my first time gaffing a larger fish at age 12-13. Had no clue what to expect. Gaffed a 33 lb cobia and before I knew it he spun the gaff out of my hand and dad bout threw me in the water he was so mad. Thank goodness he grabbed the gaff instead and brought the fish to the boat. Looks like a walk in the park while watching others do it. Just like captaining a boat, always thought by riding with dad I could do it myself without his assistance…Boy was I wrong. I stick to the closer spots until I get MUCH more experience under my belt unless I have somebody else with much more experience on board for those what ifs and I’ll be on a much bigger boat.

WD, thanks again for a safe and sporty trip on Sunday. After reading the thread I thought I would throw into the mix that not a single fish (aside from the immediate bite off) brought to the boat was lost at the boat. 16 for 16 in a nasty ocean, regarless of finesse, is still 16 fishies making it to the grills/pans of a happy crew! Can’t wait to get back out!

I awoke at 4:30 this A.M. and checked the radar and thought about you. It didn’t look pretty.

Congratulations on your catch.

Thanks for the report.

I am glad you and the crew are safe.

I’m getting old and worry.
