We headed out of Dolphin cove at 4am, Dark, really Dark. slow goings to and through the Jetties with light rain. After a 4.5 hour journey around and through the storms on the Radar we finally put lines in around 08:30, just the naked for high speed troll. Nothing happened until we put in the Green and the green white, we picked up a double knock down, and boated two Dolphin.
We continued to dodge the rain and picked up two more in a short time. Once we were in 220- 230’ and 74 degrees,on a heading to 226 hole we got a triple knock down and boated all. That was a bit of a circus but fun none the less. We were able to pick several more making some nice figure 8’s. After boating 16 keepers and suspecting one bite off to a wahoo (not confirmed). Hot colors were anything green, also pink and blue hit with regularity. Ballyhoo or naked did not seem to matter.
Ride home was unbelievable, even in light rain we were able to make 25-35 getting us back to the Jetties in 2hrs. All in all a great day on the pond.
16 dolphin- largest measured 49.5 inches to center of tail fork and just over 11.5 inches from the top of the head to the bottom of the jaw. our scale topped out at 30 lbs so we don’t know how much the bull weighed. I am guessing in the 40’s
Can someone tell me by the size?
Either way it was a great day offshore fishing with friends, and returning home safe to fish again another day…

the kinks are out and she is performing great. I rewired it all with 2awg and its now working like a champ.
Before the crew catches me, one of the keys to our success today, besides having the HD radar, was bringing the dolphin in slow. Most of the time they had another one deeper right behind them. Two times we were able to pitch back and pick up the trailer.
