Caught a few last Wednesday…
Nice fish! As soon as the Menhaden show up around here the flounder fishing will really turn! Can’t wait, should not be long.
I would not wait to get out there man. They have been in the creeks for several weeks now up north in Murrells where the water is cooler. The smaller the mudder the better right now…
Nice fish!

Clarification for us clueless please. “the smaller the mudder”? Smaller the creek? Smaller the minnow?
I’d like to learn how to target Flounder here around James Isl…
PS I’m jealous of those fish!
mudder = mud minnow haha
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

and I actually caught some small “mudders” fished with them and no luck, I would rather have “mummichogs”

I agree. Mummichogs are WAY better than mud minnows.
OK. What’s a mummichog?

Hey Braden, my brother has be laying the hate on those things. It’s been a hot bite for him for the last couple weeks.
mummichog is a very large mud minnow, haven’t had much luck finding any as of lately though

Nice flounder.
Can’t go wrng with a MM on a jighead. That’s a deadly combo.

Funny, on Sat I gathered some mm’s but didn’t get as many as I usually do so I kept the really small ones that I would usually throw back. I caught 4 28-30" reds, 6 that were just barely big enough to reach slot size and one undersized flounder. Towards the end as I was running out of mm’s I put on a really small one and wouldn’t you know that’s what I caught one of the big reds on.
So with a mm on a jig, just drag it on the bottom or jig it up and down as you pull it in or just reel it straight in? Usually when I fish mm’s on the bottom just sitting, I end up with a ray.
Flatties out on the jettie…SWEET!!!
